Customer Reviews
Customer service and communication was excellent. Attention to detail on interior cleaning was excellent. Summer kept me informed and help me make informed decisions.
Please explain your complaint in detail: In 2021, I purchased a new VW Jetta from University VW. This made the 3rd purchase from this dealership and have owned nothing but VW my entire life. One day after this purchase, the battery on the car was faulty and had to be replaced. Two weeks later tire went flat and was told it was not properly put on the rim. two months after that, the rear view mirror fell off the window. In between these issues my car warning lights continued to fire off for no reason. I complained to VW and the Lemon Law division for the State of Washington and was told "all cars have issues at first"?? After taking the car in, nothing jumped out as the issue and the car was returned. Around about January or February, all the emergency lights and messages continued to fire off. Took the car in and VW had it for 3 months because although they saw errors it was not pointing them to the ISSUE. So a lot of spaghetti was thrown at the wall and the one piece that stuck was the piece they refer to as the brains of the car. This was not a solution but a guess. VW Customer Care offered me $2000 for my troubles and they would continue to work on the car until the warranty runs out. Again, $2000 for my troubles but only $2000 should my car fail and put me in a critical situation and VW was comfortable putting me back in a dangerous vehicle. I was put back into my car 2 days ago, I started my car up and my warning lights began to fire off, my car reported that my engine was running when it wasn't and the engine was reporting 3000 rpm. (got a picture of errors). Called Ian at University today (8/7/2024) and asked what VW was planning on this issue and he stated the car is not a lemon, they will address this issue and try to resolve. Keep in mind, I have had these electrical issues since April 2021, on and off again until I took the car into VW in Feb 2024 until April 2024 and again, now. However, the last time, I was told the error did not tell them where to look , so they replaced the brain of the car and HOPED that would fix it. But two days ago the issues came back. Why would VW want to put me in a car they know is not safe? Why are there no protections for consumers when a business simply has to draw out the clock? Why does the state allow businesses to delay delay delay and allow businesses to put consumers in potential danger.
Top notch service from Jon Pollock. He made the buying process so easy and personal. He understood what I was looking for and had a great attention to detail. We’ll keep going back and refer friends and family.
I was on a waiting list for about 9 months for my new Golf R. While I certainly appreciate University VW keeping me on the list and notifying me of an inbound vehicle, I didn't appreciate being charged more than MSRP as I know I could have found a vehicle elsewhere in the US for MSRP, but in the end, it was much easier to buy locally, and I don't have any regrets about my purchase as it all went smoothly. In the four months I've owned my Golf R it has been flawless.
I lost my key. I went to a locksmith first, who led me on for 3 days before admitting they could not program the key they made to my car. I brought my car and the freshly made key to University dealership. They told me I need to order a factory key and it would take 5-7 business days. They were able to get it in 2 days and immediately programed the key to my car! In addition gave me a complimentary check up. They were so quick and friendly overall. Not having a car was so stressful. Their quick and friendly service was so appreciated! They have my future business!
I purchased my 2019 Volkswagen AllTrack in May of 2020… to date it has spent 6+ weeks in Service (yes… it is met the criteria of lemon law). Volkswagen does not seem to understand there is a worldwide pandemic going… and that King County has yet to make it fully into phase 2 of reopening. There are those Trump based Covid Deniers out there… and this dealership is part of the problem. They seem to find it perfectly acceptable to continually send me out in a car that breaks down on the freeway… on the way to the grocery store… trying to make a living during these trying times. They seem to find it perfectly acceptable to put me and my family in harm’s way to economize corporate profits despite my health, safety, science, and public health. Imagine yourself… stuck on the freeway… car broken down… your children in the back… for a good hour… dealing with tow truck drivers climbing through your car without a mask… and then loading everyone in an Uber… praying no-one gets sick. Now imagine having to do this day after day… for weeks on end… every time your car has been released from dealership (again… and again… and again) … the constant stress of not knowing you’ll be able to make it to your destination safely. Now imagine having to deal with the Volkswagen Customer Care team… you’ve seen those video’s of Trump officials telling you to drink Bleach and get back to work… and send your kids to school… denying there’s a global pandemic… this will be your experience… it’s like Trump press conference… and you’re the one trying to get a straight answer. This will be your life. The 0% interest looks good now… the blow to your pocketbook… personal safety… and health… will last for years! Buyer be aware… they will economize the life of you... you family and your friends in order to not meet their legal obligations.
Basically the quality of work is worse than negligent. They are friendly but have no idea what is going on in service. I went in for radio code and ended up eventually towing my car somewhere else with a window that would not roll up and no start issue they told me would cost 900 dollars to diagnose. My mechanic found that they pierced a wire testing and broke the glow plug connector in the process of doing my glow plug recall update. They didnt take any responsibility and told me my old car had electrical issues when it was there xxxxty job that caused the issue. The glow plugs still dont work. They cost me 900 and 6 weeks with no car because they dont know what they are doing. DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR HERE.
Technical advisers were all really friendly and useful. However the quality of the work performed in the shop reserves a warning to other VW owners... Here goes. Act I I got my car towed to this dealership to get it fixed under warranty after the intake manifold failed. They did install a new intake manifold. I drove it home the same day only to have the car fail again when a hose connection came loose on that same manifold! Got the car towed again; the staff apologized and explained that the mechanic would carefully go over all bolts and hoses connections the second time around. They were genuinely embarrassed. Act II At the same time they found one wheel was coming loose, which was not their fault. They re-tightened it. In the process the mechanic managed to lose my wheel locks key and claimed he didn't touch it. I am certain about my facts, being one of those paranoid customers that checks that nothing is missing from the car before AND after it goes to service. Again, the advisers given the situation gave the benefit of doubt and after some negotiations replaced the 4 wheel locks and key free of charge. The least they could do after having lost my wheel lock key. Act III It get better... 2 weeks later I removed the air box to perform preventive brake and clutch fluid replacement at home. This is when i noticed that one of the intake manifold bolts was not engaged in the engine block at all. That's right... after botching the job once, they took it back in the shop (see Act I above) and supposedly went through all manifold attachment and connections and still the mechanic managed to miss that one obvious bolt securing the manifold. Needless to say I tightened it and promised myself that my car will not go to University VW ever again. Why am I so nice? :) Why did I still gave them 2 stars? Michael (tech advisers) was so friendly he actually managed to make this horrible experience somehow almost pleasant. He even picked up his cell phone after hours to help me. Granted I am not of the stressed type and I actually thought the repeated errors from the shop were almost comical. So I guess they deserve 2 stars. I just hope that bad mechanic is an isolated case. If you get service done at University, cross your fingers. Oh and you might even be in for a good laugh. Drive Safe!
Service Dept. is polite and professional, committed to eventually get it right on basic maintenance and several warranty items. Following service for example, look for oil changes being clean w/no mess around the filter and the sound pan underneath the engine. Put a piece of tape over the oil or fuel filter cap or drain plug if it’s still there when you pick it up well…. Ask to look at old parts to verify they actually replaced them. Stress that the service advisor confirms workmanship before calling you on all items. As a Quality Engineer on the plans you fly in and as a customer; trust but verify always. Typically dealerships have a 70% chance of first time success until they realize you’ll will hold them accountable. Is UWV an exception? No, but they’re better than most dealership service depts.
I had a great experiencing leasing my car through University Volkswagen. All of the staff I encountered was very helpful, especially Eric Lauritzen. He was friendly and knowledgeable. He helped to expedite the process in finding the car best suited to my needs and price range. He has been there to answer all questions I have had regarding my new car from its features to service inquiries. University Volkswagen provided great and seamless service!
The people at U Volkswagon, and several customer service reps have helped me since I got my Passat, are the nicest, friendliest people and they make servicing and fixing your car as painless as it's ever gonna get. I like them as much as I like my Passat. And that's a lot.
From the first time that I met Kaitlyn Richardson to inquire about a new VW Sport Wagon lease, to the point that we ended up buying the new Sport Wagon,I was treated with supeb customer care, excellent information and a non-pressured discussion of options to start driving the new car. This is how customer serve should be, and kudos to the dealership for having the likes of Kaitlyn on-board customer-facing. I am very impressed with the service, automobile quality and everything about this dealership. Craig Smith, MD
My experience was exceptional and I can't thank Nic and the rest of the team at University VW enough for the smooth, pleasant process of leasing my new GTI.
I was very pleased with my purchase from University VW. I bought a certified used 2009 CC. The car was ready for a test drive within 20 minutes of my call. My sales staff (Miles DeCaro and Guy Kelly) were very knowledgeable of the car and the entire VW product line and business operation. I did extensive research on pricing prior to coming to the UVW and was able to pretty quickly negotiate a purchase price that I believe was objectively fair to both sides, and I got what I wanted on my trade in. Jon Crawford in finance was thorough and quick in getting the finance set up, and got me a better interest rate than what I had expected to pay. There were a few small post-sale service issues that needed to be followed up on, and Jeff Grant and Dominique Prevo in the service department were thorough and friendly and flexible. I have purchased cars from two other dealers in the Puget Sound area, and UVW clearly out-classed them across the board. I would have no problem referring a friend to UVW. When I'm in the market for a car again I will definitely return.
KARINE IN INTERNET SALES MADE THIS AN AMAZING BUYING EXPERIENCE! I have had bad experiences in the past when buying a car - spending hours waiting on paperwork and working with unfriendly/pushy sales staff. This was a complete 180 from those experiences, and what a pleasant surprise! I work at Microsoft and purchased through our employee discount... thus I was able to work with Karine who handles these sorts of sales. I sent an email asking very specific questions about pricing, financing options and car availabity and stated that I wanted this particular purchase to be quick and painless... otherwise no dice. Karine replied to my email almost immediately, answering each of my questions in full and offering to complete all the paperwork before my arrival. I had test driven the car before so knew it was the one I wanted. This is my first Volkswagen, and the only one left in stock in the entire state) so I went for it! I promise you, if you work with Karine you won't be sorry. When I arrived, she greeted me with a huge smile and made me feel very comfortable (no pushy sales people here) and helped to complete the entire process in about an hour. Then she took the time to sit in the car with me and help with everything from adjusting my mirrors to setting up the bluetooth hands free. She was like that favorite aunt we all have (or want), and ended the experience with a huge (and sincere) hug, then giving me her card and telling me to call her if I ever have any problems at all - with the car, with getting a loaner car during service, or any concerns/questions about the car. Simply wonderful! Also Jon, the business manager (really, the person that helps you fill out all the finance paperwork) was also very friendly, easy to work with and, while he asks if you want to add some additional services to the car, was never pushy. I said no to some items and that was that (very different than when buying my last car). I may have just become a VW lover for life. Fingers crossed the maintenance process is as fabulous as the buying process.
