2020 VW Atlas Seattle
Wherever you look, you can find a sporty crossover, and why shouldn’t you? Crossovers offer the best of both worlds – great performance, better fuel economy, and loads of spa… Actually, most crossovers are a bit short on space. But not the 2020 Volkswagen Atlas – it the perfect mix of performance and practicality.
What’s New Since 2019?
–
The Atlas is a relatively new model having debuted in 2018. Since then there haven’t been many major changes but you can now get 20-inch wheels as standard on all SE w/ Technology and higher trims and 21-inch wheels on the SEL Premium trim.
Inside, you get the Volkswagen infotainment system Car-Net 2.0 which is also equipped with a Wi-Fi hotspot.
Atlas Interior – Clean, Luxurious, Spacious
The interior is arguably the most important part of any car and thankfully, and the interior of the 2020 Atlas is a great place to be, especially for those who like practicality. The interior of the 2020 Atlas has been designed with practicality in mind which means you’ve got a nice, clean layout with plenty of tech packed in to make this cabin quite entertaining as well. Speaking of tech, the Atlas comes with safety features like blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alerts and automatic emergency braking as standard.
The cabin is designed in such a way that it feels a lot bigger than it actually is, but then it really is quite big, especially bigger than its competitors with a third-row of seats. The third-row also means that with the 2020 Atlas you won’t have to be picky about what you take on a road trip.
Atlas Interior – Clean, Luxurious, Spacious
Apart from the better looking 20-inch wheels, there aren’t many changes on the outside of the 2020 Atlas – but why change a winning combo at all? The new Atlas has sharp edges and a bold stance that lends it the look of a full-size SUV.
But despite looking like its bigger siblings and seating 7, the Atlas is still relatively small and manageable around city centers. And if you want, it’ll easily dominate the offroad in its AWD configuration.
Atlas Performance – Great Size, Great Power
Drivetrain
The 2020 Atlas comes with two different engine options
- The first is the 2.0 liter turbocharged 4-cylinder developing 235-hp which gets sent to the front two wheels through 8-speed automatic transmission.
- The second (and the more popular option) is the turbocharged V6 engine which sends 276-hp to all four wheels through the same transmission.
The smooth suspension and rigid construction make it a relaxing SUV to drive on both bumpy streets and fast on highways.
The Atlas will also tow whatever you have in the garage with ease thanks to its 5,000 pounds of towing capacity.

Meet the 2020 Atlas Sport
Not everyone needs a 7-seat configuration. Some of us want to ditch the third-row in favor of a more city-friendly SUV that’s still just as capable performance-wise – some of us want the 2020 Atlas Sport.
The Atlas Sport is 7.5 inches shorter and 2.3 inches lower and has even more striking design elements including an aggressive rear-end that makes it look a whole lot more modern (and faster). The sleeker headlamps upfront also make the Sport easily distinguishable from the standard version.
