Freeway Motors Inc, now known as University Volkswagen and University VW, has been a fixture in Seattle's University of Washington District since the late 1950's.

Our founder, Bob Will, while working at a local bank, invested in a small dealership selling an unknown little car called the Volkswagen Beetle.

Bob was born and raised just a few blocks from the dealership in the University District. After serving in the Army Airforce during World War II, he completed his education at the University of Washington, where he was a member of the four-oared Crew that won an Olympic Gold Medal at the 1948 London Olympic Games.

Bob's strong work ethics and vision built the once small store into one of the Northwest's best automobile dealerships.

In 1989, Bob retired and his son Rob took over as General Manager. Rob started working at the dealership in 1968, washing and detailing cars. Over the years he has been a mechanic, Service Advisor, Service Manager, Finance Manager, Sales Manager, and in 1994 Rob purchased the dealership. University has continued to grow, becoming two of the finest dealerships in the Northwest, University Volkswagen and University VW.

In 1984, University developed Passport Service, a customer benefit package that is still unmatched today. This unique program goes beyond just the use of one our 80 plus loan cars, it also provides a convenient shuttle service, free yearly inspections, and a lifetime guarantee on most customer pay repairs.
